Young driver escapes uninjured after car flips into ditch
FORT KENT, Maine — A young driver escaped without injury when her car flipped on its side into a ditch in Fort Kent during a single-vehicle accident following the first substantial snowstorm of the winter season in northern Maine.
The 17-year-old driver was operating a 2004 Honda Civic northbound on Route 161 on Wednesday morning when she lost control of the vehicle which left the roadway and landed on its side in a ditch near the old Drive Inn Road.
The crash occurred shortly after 8 a.m.
The vehicle received minor damage and was towed from the ditch, temporarily blocking traffic.
Fort Kent Police Chief Tom Pelletier said slippery road conditions contributed to the accident.
