Tear down the wall

To the editor:

This is the 30th anniversary of when the wall that separated East Berlin from West Berlin in Germany was torn down, thus reuniting families and loved ones, neighbors and friends.

What is it going to take for a small group of dissidents in Fort Kent to tear down the wall separating progress from stagnation in the Upper St. John Valley? Congratulations to Ben Sirois, the Valley Unified Board and the Site Selection Committee who have arduously worked for more than a year to advance the future education of the students in our region by successfully accomplishing the first major step in the process with the selection of the Frenchville site for the construction of the new regional school. Much work remains to complete the process. It’s time to grow up and move forward. If, by their example, the “adults” cannot work and play nice together, how do we expect unification among the students in the classroom and on the courts and fields? How many more legs will be broken?
