FRENCHVILLE, Maine — Frenchville town manager Ryan E. Pelletier has closed Pelletier Avenue and Starbarn Road at the intersection of Pelletier Avenue in the town until further notice due to flooding.

Pelletier closed the roads as a public precaution.

The combination of excess rain and maxed out crossover pipes caused flooding along the roadways and has begun washing out material underneath the roads making it unsafe for the traveling public, according to Pelletier.

“The safety of community residents is No. 1,” Pelletier said.

Town officials will analyze the road conditions and continue to monitor the situation, but in the meantime Pelletier asks that people find alternate routes of travel.

“This situation will have to be monitored for the next couple of days until the streams recede,” Pelletier said.
