Professor launches book at UMCE

EDMUNDSTON, New Brunswick — The book Professional Learning Communities: Competency Profile directions of educational institution, co-authored by Education Professor Marc Basque, was launched at the University of Moncton, Edmundston Campus (UMCE) on Wednesday, Oct. 23.

Basque wrote the book with the support of Yamina Bouchamma and Marc Giguère, respectively professor and lecturer at Laval University, and Daniel April, consultant in research and communications for Gobal Education Monitoring Report UNESCO.

The book is specifically for managers of educational institutions which often pose the questions: “What should I do to establish professional learning communities (PLCs) in my school” and “How can they work?”

The book’s back cover tells that “The authors of the book begin to contribute their research (including research, action and training) from several of their projects on the accompanying directions in the professional development of their teachers and improving the educational success of their students. ”

One can also read: “Each of the skills presented in the book is illustrated by a review of the scientific literature or professionals and testimonies of members of management, with a list of key practices to put forward, and is complemented by practical exercises. “
