Edmundston names Boutot new development director

EDMUNDSTON, New Brunswick — François Boutot of Edmundston has just been appointed Director of the Development Department for the City of Edmundston. This appointment follows the retirement of former director, Georges Roy, earlier this year.

Well known in the area, Boutot is the current director of the Edmundston campus of the CCNB. He previously held the position of Head of Department, Industry, Technology and Industry at CCNB-Edmundston. A forester by training, he was also Resource Manager for Region 4 of the Department of Natural Resources in Edmundston, and worked for the JD Irving Company as a Forest Operations Supervisor, Continuous Improvement Coordinator and Director of Human Resources.

“We are delighted that a person of Mr. Boutot’s caliber is joining the municipal management team. He will be responsible for leading the Development Department, which oversees the municipal economic development, land development and planning components, “said the city’s chief administrative officer, Marc Michaud.

As the director of CCNB-Edmundston, Boutot has an excellent knowledge of the community. He has worked with several local and regional organizations on economic development and population growth, which are already priorities for the City of Edmundston through its plan for the future.

Boutot’s appointment follows an internal and external hiring process. From the numerous candidatures received, six people were summoned for an interview.

Boutot will take office on Nov. 12.
