Saint-Louis-Maillet Foundation golf tournament raises $21,000

EDMUNDSTON, New Brunswick — The sum of $21,000 has been collected on the occasion of the 25th Saint-Louis-Maillet Foundation benefit golf tournament, held in cold weather on Sept. 7 at the Fraser Edmundston Golf Club.

Since the inception of the tournament in 1995, $457,300 has been collected and delivered to the Foundation’s scholarship program, which offers financial help to students attending the University of Moncton, Edmundston Campus (UMCE).

The tournament brought together 120 golfers in 24 teams. For the third year, the annual classic was organized in collaboration with the Blizzard of Edmundston. Each team was also paired with one of the 24 members of the junior hockey team.

The quartet of François Carrier, François Gauvin, Niail O’Briain, Michel Ringuette and Alex Arsenault (Blizzard) took the honors of best tournament with a round bale of -10.

Many sponsors have contributed to the success of the tournament this weekend. The organizing committee thanks all its donors, including the official partner, the Knights of Columbus Edmundston council 1932.

Sponsors of four holes were randomly chosen to become official scholarships donors for the 2020-2021 academic year: Association of Teachers of UMCE (APPUMCE), Furniture BrandSource, Rice Levesque Forest Products Inc. and Gauvin Draperies & Design.

The foundation wishes to thank the generous sponsors that make the benefit tournament success one year after year.
