Firefighters respond to Fort Kent hay fire

FORT KENT, Maine — Fourteen volunteer firefighters with the Fort Kent Fire Department responded to a report of a burning bale of hay early Monday morning.

Shortly before 5 a.m. a passerby spotted the burning hay bale in a field off Black Lake Road in Fort Kent. 

The firefighters responded with one engine and the squad truck and extinguished the fire. 

“The bale of hay was pretty well burned up by the time we got there,” Fort Kent Fire Chief Ed Endee said. 

No one was injured as a result of the fire, and Chief Endee said the cause of the fire is unknown. 

The firefighters finished with the call at 5:27 a.m.
