FRRH slates 30th annual health fair

EAGLE LAKE, Maine — Fish River Rural Health will host their upcoming annual family health fair from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 17, 2019, at the Eagle Lake Health Center.  This free event is geared towards preventive health care services and information to guide healthy lifestyles.

FRRH is partnering with patients to improve overall health outcomes.  Adult fairgoers will have an opportunity to have preventive health screening performed, such as blood pressure, cholesterol screenings, as well as height and weight measurements.  Informational booths include Raising Readers, Hope & Justice Project, healthy eating, heart health, diabetes care and more.

Youngsters can receive a free fluoride varnish application, jump around in the bouncy house and take on the challenge of an obstacle course.  Free bicycle helmets are available for children 12 or younger, while supplies last.

Other fair attractions include an ambulance, fire truck and ranger truck tours.  Children will have a chance to sign up for a change to win a scooter or bike, with helmets and protective elbow/knee gear, donated by local sponsors.  Participants will have a chance to win other great sponsored donations and try some healthy snacks.

The Favorite Hot Spot is back — FRRH’s Teddy Bear Clinic.  This year, the clinic will feature FRRH’s integrated health services: medical, optometry, dental and behavioral health.  Young fairgoers’ cuddly stuffed animals can receive a check-up for their heart, eyes, teeth and mind.

All ages are encouraged to join the FRRH team for this free, fun-filled, lighthearted, informative day.
