Annual Summer Classic draws 22 teams

FORT KENT, Maine — The fifth annual University of Maine at Fort Kent Summer Classic took place the weekend of June 21-23 in front of large crowds at the Fort Kent Community High School and UMFK gymnasiums. 

Fans filled the bleachers to watch 22 boys and girls high school basketball teams from all over the state of Maine.

Six girls teams took the court in a round-robin style tournament in which the Penobscot Valley High School Lady Howlers went 4-0 to take the title.

 In the Boy’s Yellow division, the Calais High School team won the championship.

In the Green division, the Caribou Vikings were crowned champions of the UMFK Summer Classic for the third year in a row.
