Caribou man indicted on charges related to pharmacy robbery

CARIBOU, Maine — An Aroostook County Grand Jury indicted a Caribou man this month on charges related to a robbery at a local pharmacy.

Nathan M. Jones, 30, was indicted on charges of robbery, two counts of stealing drugs, two counts of violation of conditions of release and unlawful furnishing drugs.

Aroostook County District Attorney Todd Collins released the May list of grand jury indictments Monday.

The charges stem from an incident that allegedly took place on March 18 at Walgreens pharmacy on Bennett Drive.

A pharmacist called police to report that at 12:55 p.m. a “white male with a black jacket, jeans, black baseball cap and sunglasses” handed him a “request demanding specific drugs,” according to Caribou Police Chief Michael Gahagan

No weapons were displayed and no injuries were reported, but the suspect fled the store with the drugs, he said.

Police from both Caribou and the Aroostook County Sheriff’s Office responded to the call and, after reviewing video footage from the pharmacy, identified the suspect as Jones, according to Gahagan.

Officers found and arrested Jones at a Caribou residence “an hour and a half later.” Police did not find the stolen drugs.
