Vikings host large track and field event

CARIBOU, Maine — Cold, blustery conditions greeted track athletes from 10 schools May 11 at Caribou High School in one of the larger track and field meets of the year.

The Vikings finished first in the girls team standings with 156 points, followed by 2, Bangor, 154; 3, Hampden Academy, 116.50; 4, Presque Isle, 52; 5, Maine School of Science and Mathematics, 39; 6, Fort Kent, 24; 7, Fort Fairfield, 20.50; 8, Houlton, 16; and 9, Greater Houlton Christian, 6.

Bangor was the top squad for the boys with 190 points. Other team scores were: 2, Hampden Academy, 122; 3, Caribou, 121; 4, Presque Isle, 93; 5, MSSM, 21; 6, Houlton, 13; and 7, Washburn, 10.

County track athletes will have little time to rest as the Aroostook County League Championship is slated for Thursday, May 16, at Presque Isle Middle School.

The first-place finishers in each category are as follows:

Girls 4×800 relay — MSSM (Jasmine Deal, Milica Samardzic, Madison McCarthy and Dolcie Tanguay), 11 minutes, 58.85 seconds.

Boys 4×800 relay — Caribou (Arron Macek, Kyle Boucher, Jordan Duplessie and Malachai Willey), 9:21.21.

Girls 100 Hurdles — Willow Whitten, Caribou, 17.87.

Boys 110 Hurdles — Andrew Munroe, Bangor, 16.77.

Girls 100 — Naomi Noack, Bangor, 13.66.

Boys 100 — Landyn Francis, Bangor, 11.67.

Girls 1600 Race Walk — Moxie Flanagan, Hampden Academy 8:13.15.

Boys 1600 Race Walk — Owen McQuarrie, Presque Isle, 8:20.29.

Girls 1600 Meter — Helen Shearer, Hampden Academy, 5:24.07.

Girls 4×100 relay — Bangor (Naomi Noack, Celia de Diego Garcia, Meaghan Caron, Mackenzie Lambert), 55.26.

Boys 4×100 relay — Bangor (Kyle Larrabee, Lasse Keim, Dylan Gerrish, Josh Rand), 47.13.

Girls 400 — Mackenzie Lambert, Bangor, 1:04.23.

Boys 400 — Trace Cyr, Presque Isle, 52.83.

Girls 300 Hurdles — Willow Whitten, Caribou, 50.76.

Boys 300 Hurdles — Conner Michaud, Presque Isle, 43.60.

Girls 800 — Alexis Rodriguez, Caribou, 2:36.62.

Boys 800 — Jason Mathies, Hampden Academy, 2:06.45.

Girls 200 — Alyssa Elliott, Bangor, 28.47.

Boys High Jump — Isaac Marker, Caribou, 5-10.

Girls Long Jump — Amelia McLaughlin, Hampden Academy, 16-7.

Boys Long Jump — Andrew Munroe Bangor, 19-9.50.

Girls Triple Jump — Amelia McLaughlin, Hampden Academy, 29-8.25.

Boys Triple Jump — Wade Brown, Hampden Academy, 41-4.5.

Girls Javelin — Rylee Saucier, Caribou, 96-8.50.
