UMFK track and field team wraps up inaugural season with 13 medals
The University of Maine at Fort Kent track and field program concluded its inaugural season on Saturday at the United States Collegiate Athletic Association National Invitational in Burlington, Vermont.
The University of Maine at Fort Kent track and field program concluded its inaugural season on Saturday at the United States Collegiate Athletic Association National Invitational in Burlington, Vermont.
The UMFK men finished 3rd out of 8 teams while the women finished 6th out of 8 teams in rain soaked conditions on the University of Vermont campus.
The Bengals took home the gold in 7 events with Nick Gayle taking first in the 100 meter and 200 meter races, Rodane Hibbert topping the field in the 400 meter race and 400 meter hurdles, Mandy Graham winning the 1,500 meter and 5,000 meter events, and Ajay Thompson capturing the high jump.
UMFK competitors added 6 more top 3 finishes with Vinnette Blake taking 3rd in the 100m and 2nd in the 200m, Ajay Thompson taking 2nd in the 200m, Joe Enerva taking 2nd in the shot put, and Rodane Hibbert taking 3rd in the long jump and javelin.
