Owner demolishes long vacant restaurant building on Main Street

FORT KENT, Maine — A long vacant Fort Kent building which housed a variety of restaurants throughout the years is no longer standing on Main Street.

On Tuesday, Jan. 15, workers with JBBC Inc., a Fort Kent site development company demolished the building which began as Dubois’ Restaurant decades ago and most recently housed Richardo’s Italian Bistro. Richardo’s ceased operation in 2010.

Jim Bouchard, owner of JBBC Inc. bought the property for $15,000 in 2017 in a Norstate Federal Credit Union auction, after the property went into foreclosure.

JBBC Inc. plans to clean up the lot for potential future development, but no solid plans for the property are in the works at this time, according to a spokesperson for the company.
