‘Treats for Service’ lets kids show they care

FORT KENT, Maine — Members of the Valley Rivers Middle School Student Council recently delivered cookies and other treats, along with thank-you cards, to thank those who make the community a safe and inviting place every day.

“‘Treats for Service’ is a small way to show our thanks to the safety personnel of our community,” said Kara Beal, Student Council adviser. “I am so very proud of the Valley Rivers Middle School students for their commitment to reaching out and serving in the community.”

The organizations in the community, which included the Border Patrol, police department, post office, Forest Hill Nursing Home and many others, were thankful to receive boxes of cookies and treats, sharing big smiles and handshakes with those who delivered the goods.

The students enjoyed the chance to say “thank you” for the many hours community members spend to help the patrons of The County and the community.
