Wallagrass man escapes injury in rollover accident

CROSS LAKE, Maine —  A Wallagrass man whose car rolled over into a ditch escaped injury but his car received substantial damage Thursday, according to police.

Jonny Labbe, 22, was traveling southbound on Route 161 in Cross Lake Township at 7:10 a.m. on Thursday when he began to pass a vehicle ahead of him, Maine State Police Trooper Andrew Levesque said in a press release.

While attempting the pass, Labbe lost control of his 2006 Nissan Altima and the vehicle skidded off the northbound side of the road, reported Levesque, who witnessed the accident while traveling north on Route 161.

Levesque said the Nissan rolled over in a ditch before coming to rest.

The trooper stopped and helped Labbe exit his vehicle.

Labbe was wearing a seatbelt and speed was not considered a factor in the crash, according to the trooper.
