Unity falls to Fort Kent

FORT KENT, Maine—The University of Maine at Fort Kent women’s soccer team had its home opener against Unity College on Friday afternoon, Sept. 21, as the kick-off to UMFK Homecoming Weekend.

From start to finish, said UMFK sports information officer Fletcher Brown, the Bengals dominated Unity College in a rain-filled soccer match at Alumni Memorial Field, finishing off the Rams 13-0.

Sophomore forward Tolu Oyenini led the way for the Bengals with three goals, but UMFK had a number of different players put their names in the scoring column as Mili Alvarez, Ronnique Douglas-Edwards, Hope Shea, Searra Herbert, Cameika Davis, Jordan Maxwell, Veronica Paz and Vinette Blake all scored. The Bengals showed off their stifling defense as well as Unity was not able to get a shot on goal.

The combination of a lethal offensive attack to pair with the tough defense has kept them undefeated with a record of 3-0-1.
