PVC announces all-conference, all-academic teams

The Penobscot Valley Conference’s all-conference and all-academic teams for the fall sports season have been released and include several athletes from the region. 

In Class B girls’ soccer, conference officials named Presque Isle’s Madison Michaud, who was named Player of the Year, and Savannah Rodriguez, and Caribou’s Willow Whitten and Alexis Rodriguez to the first team. Liz Collins and Paige McHatten, both of Presque Isle, and Caribou’s Monica McLaughlin and Edie Shea were voted to the second team.

For Class B boys, Player of the Year Alex Ezzy and Caribou teammates Cullin Caverhill and Parker Deprey joined Presque Isle’s Jonah Hudson, Zech Morse and Kyler Caron on the first team. Those on the second team include Noah Hixon and Austin Findlen, both of Caribou, and Torey Levesque of Presque Isle. The Wildcats’ Jacob Sjoberg received honorable mention. Scott Hunter of Caribou was named Coach of the Year.

Houlton’s Jamie Brown made the Class C girls’ first team. The Shires’ Tessa Solomon and Sierra Hoops made the second team and Amelia Ivey and Bre Barton the third team. Samantha Johnson earned honorable mention and Tim Tweedie was the Coach of the Year.

On the boys’ side for Class C, Drew Foley and Keegan Gentle were Houlton’s representatives on the first team and Nate Delucca made the second team. Nolan Porter and Jaron Gentle were on the third team. Brian Barton of the Shires was named Coach of the Year.

Those making the girls’ All-Academic team were Presque Isle’s Lydia Miller, Madison Michaud, Eleanor St. Peter, Molly Kingsbury, Elizabeth Collins, Grace Bemis and Emma Kohlbacher; Caribou’s Willow Whitten, Olivia Picard, Riley McNeal, Taylor Devoe and Joycelyn Hartin; and Houlton’s Jamie Brown and Tessa Solomon.

Conference officials named the following boys to the all-academic team: Caribou’s Noah Hixon, Alex Ezzy, Austin Findlen, Tom Pinette and Alex Hyde; Presque Isle’s Torey Levesque and Jacob Sjoberg; and Houlton’s Nolan Porter, Ben Grant and Alex Wilde.

Cross country runners gaining Class B first-team all-conference girls’ honors were Caribou’s Abigail Wimmer and Presque Isle’s Madison Jandreau.

Caribou’s Ashley Violette made the second team and Presque Isle’s Ellie Smith and Caribou’s Emily Austin earned honorable mention. For Class C, Houlton’s Emmalyne Drake made the first team and Ellie Grant and Makenna Cooley the third team.

On the boys’ side, Caribou’s Kyle Boucher and Dylan Marrero were first-team honorees and Jordan Duplessie of the Vikings was selected to the second team. Teammate Ethan Holmquist garnered honorable mention. Marrero was named Class B Runner of the Year.

In the Class C ranks, Daniel Ross of Houlton earned a spot on the third team.

Conference officials named the following students to the all-academic girls’ cross country team: Caribou’s Ashley Violette, Hailey Holmquist, Olivia Austin and Emily Austin; Houlton’s Lauren Swimm; and Presque Isle’s Madison Jandreau and Alexandra Walsh. For boys, Caribou’s Kyle Boucher, Aaron Macek, Grady McKeough and Dylan Marrero; Presque Isle’s Trace Cyr and Houlton’s Donald Ouellette all made the all-academic squad.

In golf, Carlisle’s Libby Boone, a Presque Isle High School senior, made the girls’ all-conference golf team along with Houlton’s Rhetta Vega and Sydney Lorom. Vega was the Girls’ Class C Player of the Year.

Two golfers from Carlisle, Gabe Rand of Caribou High School and Seth Roy of PIHS, made the Class A boys team.

In Class C, Wyatt Harvey, Duncan McCormack, Collin Moody, Isaac Vega and Nick Brewer all made all-conference for the Shiretowners.

Carlisle’s Gabe Rand and Houlton’s Rhetta Vega and Wyatt Harvey were named to the all-academic golf team.
