Muskie are biting for fishing derby in the Valley

FORT KENT, Maine — Sunny skies and giant fish greeted participants during opening day of the Fort Kent International Muskie Derby on Friday. Jason Cyr, was topping the adult leaderboard as of Friday at 2 p.m., after reeling in a 44 ⅞ inch, 22-pound whopper.

Kim Doody was in the lead for the biggest bass with a 19 ⅞ inch fish weighing in at 4 pounds and one ounce. No children had registered fish as of that time but there is still a whole weekend of fishing ahead.
