New Brunswick Botanical Garden to mark 25th anniversary

ST. JACQUES, New Brunswick — The New Brunswick Botanical Garden will celebrate its 25th anniversary the weekend of Aug. 10-12, and will also mark the third edition of the Sortie Branchée en Acadie.

Les Brothers will perform on Friday, Aug. 10, at 10 p.m. at the Café D’la Vieille Forge.

During a welcome reception Saturday, Aug. 11, emcee Josée Landry, director of the New Brunswick Botanical Garden will introduce at 4:45 p.m. René Arseneault, Member of Parliament for the district of Madawaska-Restigouche. Other speakers will include: at 4:50 p.m., Francine Landry, minister of economic development; at 5 p.m., Cyril Simard, mayor of Edmundston; at 5:05 p.m., Pierre Bourque, former director of the Montreal Botanical Garden, former mayor of Montreal and contributor to the creation of the New Brunswick Botanical Garden; at 5:15 p.m., Monique Simard, daughter of Jean-Maurice Simard, promoter of the New Brunswick Botanical Garden; and at 5:25 p.m., André Leclerc, chairman of the board for the garden.

A banquet at 6:15 will be followed by the performance of Zachary Richard at 8 p.m. at the gardens.

On Sunday, Aug. 12, there will be a host of activities (Napoli farm, inflatables, artists, drums, etc.) from 12-6 p.m.  Suroit will perform from 4-6 p.m.

Admission is free to all.
