Pony League baseball season wrapping up in Aroostook

Six baseball teams, four from Aroostook County and two others representing Canada, are competing in this year’s Northern Maine Community Recreation Association Pony League for 13-15 year-olds.

The regular season began on June 19 and will continue through Thursday, with the playoffs set to begin July 23.

Presque Isle is currently in first place with a perfect 7-0 record. Woodland/AFSL/CFCU, representing the Caribou area, stands at 5-2. Edmundston (3-3), Mapleton (2-4), Grand Falls (2-5) and Van Buren (1-6) round out the list of teams competing in this year’s league.

Scores of games played so far are as follows: Woodland/AFSL/CFCU 12, Van Buren 0; Edmundston 13, Grand Falls 12; Woodland/AFSL/CFCU 3, Grand Falls 0; Presque Isle 21, Mapleton 1; Edmundston 19, Van Buren 1; Presque Isle 1, Woodland/AFSL/CFCU 0; Van Buren 11, Mapleton 10; Grand Falls 3, Edmundston 2; Presque Isle 13, Edmundston 2.
