Fort Kent boys defeat Madawaska Owls 4-1 in prelim tennis match

MADAWASKA, Maine — In the preliminary round of the boys Class C North tennis championships, the No. 5 ranked Fort Kent Warriors defeated the 12th ranked Madawaska Owls 4-1 on Tuesday, May 29.

The Warriors, with a record of 8 wins and 4 losses, advanced to the next round by winning all but one singles match against the Owls, who are 1 and 9.

Ben Hebert of Madawaska took three sets to win his match against Niko Naranja, 6-3, 3-6, 6-3.

Jonathan Blanchette of Fort Kent defeated Lance Lavoie in straight sets, 6-0, 6-1.

Reece Voisine of Fort Kent defeated Alex Daigle in a tight contest, 6-4, 6-3.

In the doubles matches, the Fort Kent team of Caleb Delisle and Sam Johnson beat out Madawaska’s Andrew Nadeau and Max Gendreau 6-1, 6-2; and Warriors Samuel Albert and Raphael Babin defeated Calen Bassett and Jacob Vereneau  6-0, 6-3.
