Fort Kent firefighters put out fire that destroyed piece of farm equipment
FORT KENT, Maine — A fire of unknown origin destroyed a piece of farm equipment in New Canada on Tuesday afternoon.
Eleven volunteer firefighters from the Fort Kent Fire Department responded to the call at about 4:19 p.m. and quickly extinguished the flames burning a skid-steer loader on the farm at 380 New Canada Road, according to FKFD Chief Ed Endee.
The machine was not in operation when it began burning, according to Endee. Witnesses inside the residence where the fire occurred reported looking out the window and seeing the loader on fire. Chief Endee said the cause of the fire is undetermined due to the extent of damage to the machine.
“It was pretty well burnt so it’s impossible to tell what had happened,” Endee said.
The firefighters cleared the scene at 5:06 p.m.
