Valley athletes place at track meet
ST. JOHN VALLEY, Maine — High-school track and field teams from Fort Kent and Madawaska traveled to Old Town High School where they competed in the first meet of the season on Saturday.
Individual Valley athletes who placed at the meet were Brice Carson of the Fort Kent girls team, who took sixth place in the 100 meter hurdles event. Carson’s teammate Emily Ouellette placed fifth in the high-jump.
Madawaska’s Shayki Kuptchik earned fifth place in the 300-meter hurdles, and sixth in the 110-meter hurdles.
The Fort Kent girls placed fifth in the 4×100 meter relay. Those racers were Jacalyn Pelletier, Mya Eno, Gabby Martin and Lacy Pelletier.
The Fort Kent boys also placed fifth in the 4×100 meter relay event. Those racers were Brandon Thibeault , Aryan Patel , Sam Johnson, and Alex Beaulieu.
Both the Fort Kent girls and boys and Madawaska boys teams earned points.
Girls team scores were: Old Town, 190; Orono, 155; George Stevens, 76; Greater Houlton Christian, 36; Houlton, 29; Bucksport, 26; Bangor Christian, 17;
Penquis, 17; Fort Kent, 12; and Hodgdon, no score.
Boys team scores were: Old Town, 154; Orono, 144; George Stevens, 101; Bangor Christian, 49; Bucksport, 27; Greater Houlton Christian Academy, 24; Deer Isle-Stonington, 20; Houlton, 14; Hodgdon, 8; Madawaska, 3; Fort Kent, 2; and Penquis, no score.
