50 Years Ago — April 11, 1968
Big Yearly Attraction — The open house pancake feed put on by the A.J. Michaud Company of Grand Isle becomes a bigger attraction each year. To back up the success angle, Bob Michaud of the firm said during the day 52 dozen eggs were served, over 2,100 pancakes, over 100 pounds of ham and over 100 pounds of potato salad.
FK Class of 1949 Planning Reunion — The “Forty-niners”, members of the 1949 Class of Fort Kent High School, are planning a class reunion to be held in 1969. Initial plans for the 20-year reunion were started last Tuesday night at the St. John Valley Times office in Fort Kent. Present at the meeting were Pat Babin, Mrs. Florence Madore, Mrs. Leola Savage, Mrs. Della Lamarre, and Emery L. Labbe.The class of 1949 had 65 graduates.
25 Years Ago — April 14, 1993
Delia Albert Celebrates Her 105th Birthday –– On April 10, 1993. She was born in 1888 to Mr. and Mrs. Florent Cormier in Lille. At age 19, she married Joseph Theriault and had three children, Blanche, Reno and Willard. She remarried in 1932 to Aubin Albert and had one child, Bernice Michaud of St. David. Several family members attended her birthday celebrations at Highview Manor, where she resides.
Stamp Of Approval –– The ACAP Head Start Center in Madawaska recently visited the Madawaska Post Office. They were given a tour by Postmaster Manzer Belanger. The children enjoyed seeing how their mail was sorted and delivered. They were all given stickers to remember their day.

Van Buren Daughter Vies For Miss USA Title — Van Buren’s Kaetlin Parent will compete as Miss Maine USA in the 57th Annual Miss USA Pageant on April 11, in Las Vegas. Parent, the daughter of Tim Parent and Lyn and Karla Michaud of Van Buren, will compete against 50 other contestants for the Miss USA crown.
