Police arrest woman in connection with assault in police lobby

MADAWASKA, Maine — Local police arrested a Madawaska woman Saturday and charged her with assault in connection with an incident that occurred inside the police station lobby.

Donya Fuhrrman, 44, entered the station’s lobby at about 9 a.m., apparently following another woman who had walked in ahead of her and requested assistance from an officer, according to Lt. Jamie Pelletier.

Pelletier declined to name the other woman because she is considered the victim in a related domestic violence case.

Through his office window, Pelletier said he saw the first woman enter the lobby and pick up the phone to get an officer’s attention. Before the lieutenant could reach the door, however, Fuhrmann also entered the lobby and began shoving the first woman and attempted to strike her multiple times, Pelletier said.

Neither woman was injured, according to the lieutenant.

Pelletier arrested and charged Fuhrmann with assault. She subsequently was released on personal recognizance with the stipulation that she stay away from the other woman, the lieutenant said.

Fuhrmann is scheduled to make an initial court appearance, April 4, in Madawaska District Court.
