Wardens charge Pennsylvania snowmobiler with OUI following accident near Sinclair

SINCLAIR, Maine — Maine Game Wardens Friday charged a Pennsylvania man with operating a snowmobile while under the influence following an accident Thursday evening near Sinclair.

Roger Derr of Bloomburg, Pennsylvania, was operating his 2015 Ski-Doo snowmobile at about 9:30 p.m. on a trail when he failed to negotiate a corner, according to information provided by Warden Cpl. John MacDonald.

Derr, 41, was ejected from his snowmobile during the accident. Friends transported Derr back to a residence in Sinclair were they called for medical assistance, MacDonald indicated.

Ambulance Service Inc. transported Derr to Northern Maine Medical Center in Fort Kent.

Wardens subsequently issued Derr a summons for OUI and also for failure to comply with the duty to submit  to and complete a chemical test.

As of Friday afternoon, Derr remained at NMMC, where he is being treated for unspecified injuries, according to MacDonald.
