Warrior wrestling team places in top 10, four headed to state meet

THORNDIKE, Maine — The Fort Kent Community High School wrestling team, in just its second year back, had four wrestlers qualify Saturday for the state meet later this month.

As a team, the Warriors tied for 10th place (54 points) during the Class B North regional wrestling championships held at Mt. View High School.

Jordan Labbe’s second place finish in the 182-pound group was the best individual result for Fort Kent at the Mt. View meet.

Lance Daigle (106) came in fifth place in his weight group. Teammates Reece Pelletier (152) and Immanuel Pettingill (285) also took fifth place spots in their groups.

The Foxcroft Academy squad took the team title Saturday with 191.50 points overall. Dexter Regional High School finished second with 109 points.

The Vikings of Caribou High School, the only other high school wrestling program in Aroostook County, earned 35 points, good enough for 14th place.

The Vikings will be sending three wrestlers to the state meet, which will be held at Wells High School on Saturday, Feb. 17.
