Valley basketball games postponed due to weather

ST. JOHN VALLEY, Maine — High-school basketball fans in the Valley will have to wait one more day to find out how where their teams are in the final Heal Point standings as games from Fort Kent to Van Buren have been postponed due to weather.

The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory for the St. John Valley through 1 a.m. Thursday with snow accumulations from 5 to 8 inches expected beginning midday Wednesday.

The Fort Kent Warriors junior varsity and varsity teams were set to play Central Aroostook at home Wednesday evening. Those games have been rescheduled for Thursday at 5:30 p.m. and 7 p.m. respectively, still in Fort Kent.

The Madawaska and Van Buren varsity girls and boys also were scheduled to play on Wednesday evening, and those games too will be played Thursday night instead, at 5:30 p.m. and 7 p.m. in Van Buren.

Thursday’s games will mark the final regular season matches for high-school basketball teams in the Valley.

The Wisdom boys and girls played their final regular season games on Tuesday evening against Fort Fairfield. Both Wisdom teams lost those matches with the Pioneer boys falling to the Tigers 68-40 and the girls losing to Fort Fairfield 53-25.
