Snowmobile Trail Report — January 10, 2018

Wow, has this week been cold and windy, making it nice for projects to open swampy areas.  All projects have been out finishing opening their sections and signage has also been put up.

Caribou’s section of trail 89 from the intersection of 102 North to 94 has not been connected and will be after this storm.

The moose and deer are out and about, so please, if you see tracks on the trails, it means that they are around so please slow down.

Grand Isle and Van Buren are now connected on ITS 81. This trail runs on a town road and has been posted for speed.  Please do your part and respect the signs.   There is an active logging operation as well on the section of Road, please use caution.

Portage Lake has slush on it and people are advised to stay off.

Long lake still has not been staked, so if you do venture on the lake please use extreme caution.

Trail Info

ITS 92 — This trail is groomed and in great shape.

ITS 90 — This trail is open all the way through and will be in great shape with the new snow.  The wooded sections on the Caribou end are a little skimpy so please reduce speed through the woods.  There is a logging operation up off RT 228; please use caution.

ITS 120 — Allagash has reported they have gone done all the way to where they meet with Eagle Lake and reports are in good shape.

Watch for signs.  Please slow down near the house in Westfield.  There will be a logging operation near Monticello in mid-January.  This is the same area as it has been for the past several years.  So, the trail is open until the logging starts, and the reroute is about 20 miles long so you will need to plan accordingly.   Molunkus Valley Sno-Drifters are reporting a 1.5-mile reroute; this section will be marked over the weekend.

ITS 88 — From Fort Fairfield through Presque Isle, Aroostook River and Ashland have reported good conditions.

ITS 86 — This trail is open and groomed from the border all the way to Oxbow.  Meduxnekeag is also reporting trails in great condition.
