Two-vehicle accident causes over $10,000 in damage

FORT KENT – On April 12 at 3:30 p.m., a two-car collision caused a total of $11,000 worth of damage to both vehicles when one vehicle failed to yield the right of way while exiting the Park Circle drive onto the Frenchville Road, said Fort Kent Police Chief Kenneth Michaud.
A 2004 Chevy driven by 77-year-old Gilmay Sylvain of Fort Kent collided with the 2011 Ford driven by 82- year old Louise Barresi when Sylvain failed to yield the right of way, sending the Ford into a field adjacent to the road.
Fort Kent Police Officer Dalen Boucher investigated the accident. Approximately $5,000 worth of damage occurred to Barresi’s vehicle, and approximately $6,000 worth of damage occurred to Sylvain’s vehicle. Neither driver reported any injuries.
