FORT KENT - Elementary school boys interested in basketball had an opportunity to learn new skills and become riled up this week as the University of Maine at Fort Kent’s Eric Werntgen held the annual summer basketball camp at the UMFK gym.

The camp ran for four days starting on Monday, July 8 then ended Thursday, July 11.

ST. JOHN VALLEY – Approximately 850 students from across the state competed at SkillsUSA in Bangor this past weekend and of them, 12 students from the Valley are continuing on to the next round in Kansas City, Missouri in June.

ST. JOHN VALLEY- This Saturday, March 9, two schools from the St. John Valley will compete in Caribou against three other County schools for the Class B regional round of the Maine Drama Festival. The school that wins will then move on to the state competitions.

FORT KENT - This past week was full of all kinds of excitement as high schools throughout the St. John Valley took part in this year’s Winter Carnival events. In Fort Kent, the students spent the week crowding into the gym after lunch to participate in competing against the other grades.

In Fort Kent, the Warriors wrestling team matched up against Caribou on Dec. 20 losing by a close 42-36.

ST. JOHN VALLEY – For the first time since 2007, the Valley Mustangs have won the state championship in their league 18-0, but that’s only one of the impressing achievements the team has to boast about this year.

ST. JOHN VALLEY - The undefeated Valley Mustangs varsity football team has taken the Aroostook Huskies in an impressive 56-0 playoff victory Saturday afternoon, Oct. 27, to become the Northern Maine Champs in the Greater New England Youth Football League.

MADAWASKA - Students and faculty surprised the seniors of Madawaska High School when a flash mob to Taio Cruz’s Dynamite broke out in the middle of a basketball game.

Friday, March 2, Tracy Deschaine brought everyone together, with just four minutes remaining on the clock in the second quarter of the seniors versus faculty game, and started dancing.

A friend inspired Deschaine to organize the flash mob.
