Single vehicle accident results in OUI charges

FORT KENT – On June 22, the Fort Kent Police Department charged 28-year-old Benjamin Ouellette from Fort Kent with Operating Under the Influence of alcohol (OUI) after Ouellette totaled a vehicle registered to Patrick Cannan of Eagle Lake, said Fort Kent Police Chief Kenneth Michaud.

Ouellette was alone in the incident and did not report any injuries.

At approximately 7:30 p.m., Ouellette lost control of the 2006 Ford Ranger while traveling on North Perley Brook in Fort Kent, sending the vehicle into a skid, hitting an embankment, and then a utility pole.  The accident occurred near Blaine Road.

Investigating Officer Richard Martin charged Ouellette with OUI shortly thereafter.
