NMMC's Family Fun Day in the Park raises $2000 for digital mammography unit
FORT KENT – On June 24, Northern Maine Medical Center held its 60th Anniversary Family Fun Day in the Park at Riverside Park in Fort Kent from 1 to 4 p.m. The event raised almost $2000, which the hospital will apply toward a digital mammography unit for the facility.
Carolyn Taggett was the chairperson of the planning committee for the Family Fun Day, which raised $989 from food sales and $875 at the dunk tank, one of the featured event game stations. UMFK’s Student Nurses Association, United Insurance, and Daigle Oil Company employees and members volunteered their time at different game stations. The Ancient Arabic Order of the Nobles of the Mystic Shrine (Shriners) also made an appearance at the event.
Several teams of brave volunteers participated in the dunk tank, including: The Dry DOCS: Ron Guy, Craig Morneault, Doug Taggett, The Neighborhood Boys: Peter Caron (SAD #27), Steve Pelletier (Pelletier Ford) and Carl Theriault (Valley Auto), and Team NMMC: Jessica Lamarre, Kevin Lavoie and Peter Sirois.
The Fort Kent Fire and Rescue Association volunteered their time and money for the food.
