Derby Chairman Paul Bernier said things are shaping up for another successful event. “Sponsorships are coming in nicely and we would love to break last year’s registration totals which were around 650 total participants. We have some exceptional prizes to give away and the event is drawing more and more people each year,” said Bernier.

This year, two local businesses have teamed up with the Long Lake Ice Fishing Derby to offer additional prizes.  Fort Kent Powersports has offered a 2014 Skandic Snowmobile valued at $10,500 to one lucky angler that catches a salmon, brook trout or togue over a certain pre-determined weight.

Valley Motors, also located in Fort Kent, is conducting a promotional vehicle giveaway.  5,000 Aroostook County fishing license holders will receive a Valley Motors/Ice Fishing Derby flyer in the mail in January.  One of those flyers will have a winning code number for a vehicle valued at $25,000.  The winning flyer number will be revealed at Derby Central on January 26th.  The lucky winner will have 3 hours to claim the prize.  For more information or to register for this year’s event visit:
