Kickin' it indoor soccer style, Fort Kent Rec offers grade 5 through 8 program

7 February 2013

FORT KENT- The Fort Kent Recreation and Parks Department will kick off its Co-ed Indoor Soccer Season for students in grades five and six, and seven and eight at the Fort Kent Community High School gym and at the University of Maine at Fort Kent Sports Center gymnasium.

The registration fee is $20 per student, payable in full at the registration.

This league is game-based and will take place weeknights between the hours of 5 and 8:30 p.m.

Volunteer moms and dads coach the teams for students in grades five thru eight. Some volunteer coaches have more soccer experience than others, but their main job is to make sure that everyone plays and enjoys this fast pace game while learning teamwork skills.

Kids can play on a team regardless of their soccer experience and skill level. Both girls and boys play on the same team along with experienced players and beginning players. These teams are designed to be low stress, fun games.

Because games are played indoors at the CHS gym or at the UMFK gym, weather is seldom a concern.

Registration forms are available through the schools and the Fort Kent recreation office. Deadline for registration is Tuesday, Feb. 26. Volunteer coaches are needed. If interested, or for more information contact recreation department at 834-3730.
