Firefighters respond to tractor-trailer fire in Fort Kent
FORT KENT, Maine — The Fort Kent Fire Department responded to the scene of a truck fire in the downtown area on Sunday, April 28.
Sixteen volunteer firefighters along with two engines and other vehicles responded to the 3 p.m. call about fire under the hood of a 2013 Western Star tractor trailer at 226 Market Street.
The truck’s owner, Herman Theriault was operating the truck when he noticed smoke emanating from the hood, according to Fire Chief Ed Endee.
Endee said Theriault “disconnected the battery right away and used a fire extinguisher on it” so it was out when firefighters arrived.
Endee said the fire most likely originated in the truck’s electrical system.
“There was damage to the wiring and other components under the hood,” Endee said. “The wiring was burning.”
Nobody was injured.
