County players to be honored at McDonald’s event

BANGOR, Maine — The 39th annual Maine McDonald’s High School Senior All-Star basketball games are set for Saturday, March 9, at Newman Gymnasium on the Husson University campus, and several Aroostook County players have been chosen to compete.

The girls’ AA-A-B game is at 9:15 a.m. and the boys AA-A-B game is at 10:45 a.m. The boys’ C-D game begins at 1 p.m., followed by the girls’ C-D game at 2:30 p.m. The games will pit all-stars from the North against their counterparts from the South.

Many players from Aroostook County will participate in the festivities. All will be honored at the Maine Association of Basketball Coaches banquet on Friday, March 8.

Madison Michaud of Presque Isle made the girls’ AA-A-B North squad, while Jonah Hudson of the Wildcats is a member of the AA-A-B North squad.

Ashlee Harris of Central Aroostook, Jenna Dugal of Madawaska and Kassidy Mathers and Kylie Vining, both of Southern Aroostook, will play on the girls’ C-D North team. Ben Thomas of Central Aroostook and Caleb Delisle and Camden Jandreau, both of Fort Kent are on the C-D North boys’ roster.

Dillon Kingsbury of Central Aroostook was selected as Coach of the Year for Class C North and will be one of the coaches for the girls’ C-D North squad.

Academic All-State teams were announced and Houlton’s Nolan Porter was one of 14 boys selected.

A foul shooting contest is part of the day and Faith Sjoberg of Presque Isle will represent the North region after winning the local contest held in early January. She will compete for the state championship against three other girls from different regions.
