Car and pickup collide in Fort Kent

FORT KENT, Maine — A Fort Kent teen backed his pickup into traffic on South Perley Brook Road on Wednesday, Jan. 31, and collided with an oncoming car, according to Fort Kent Police Chief Tom Pelletier.

Jordan Labbe, 18, of Eagle Lake was operating a 2001 Dodge pickup when he backed it into the roadway at 4:45 p.m. At that time, Morgan Roy, 20, of Fort Kent was traveling south in a 2011 Chevrolet passenger car on South Perley Brook Road. Roy was unable to avoid Labbe’s pickup and the two vehicles collided with one another, causing extensive damage to the Chevrolet.

Neither Roy or Labbe were injured in the accident. Pelletier said the accident was caused by Labbe’s failure to yield the right of way to an oncoming vehicle.

Twins Service Station towed Roy’s Chevrolet from the scene. The Dodge pickup received minor damage.
