Woman, baby escape injury when SUV rolls over on icy road
FORT KENT, Maine — A local woman and her infant passenger escaped injury in a single vehicle rollover accident on Dec. 30, according to police.
Margaret Guimond, 34, was driving a 2015 Toyota SUV southbound on Pleasant Street just after 3 p.m. that Sunday when the SUV left the roadway and rolled over. The Toyota landed on its roof in a ditch near the intersection of Paradis Circle.
Guimond was wearing a seatbelt and her 6-month-old passenger was properly secured in an infant safety seat, according to Chief Tom Pelletier of the Fort Kent Police Department.
Speed was not a factor and icy road conditions caused the crash, he said.
Officer Michael DeLena investigated and was assisted at the scene by members of the Fort Kent Fire Department.
