Police investigating death of Fort Kent man
Maine State Police and the Fort Kent Police Department are investigating what happened to a man found dead in a West Main Street apartment Sunday.
Fort Kent police responding to a 911 call from the apartment house at about 12:30 p.m. Sunday found Daren Charette, 49, deceased in one of the apartments at 485 West Main Street, according to Stephen McCausland, spokesman for the Maine Department of Public Safety.
The discovery sparked an investigation to determine the circumstances of the death. Charette’s body was transported to the medical examiner’s office in Augusta, where an autopsy will be conducted.
There is no threat to the public, McCausland said. Detectives are conducting interviews and state police evidence response technicians continued working Monday.
