50 Years Ago — November 21, 1968

SAD 27 Has Record Turnout   — A record number of adults-approximately 160 of them-returned to the classroom in the towns of this school district, of Fort Kent. Classes included physical education, driver education, basic clothing and tailoring, english, math, history and science are offered in “block form” twice a week for adults interested in a review in these areas to prepare for the High School Equivalency Examination.

Dr. Harrigan Named Specialist — In Edmundston, Dr. Frederick Harrigan has been named specialist in internal medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine. Born in Chatham, N.B., Dr. Harrigan attended Edmundston High School, where he graduated first in his class. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in 1949. He has been practicing in Edmundston since 1957.

25 Years Ago — November 24, 1993

Guimond Named FK Town Manager –-Don Guimond is the new town manager of Fort Kent. Fort Kent Town Councilors unanimously voted to hire Guimond. Guimond has been the Fort Kent Planning and Economic Development Coordinator since June 1.

New Driving Range — A new driving range is under construction at the Edmundston Golf Club in Edmundston, N.B. One can get a fairly good idea on the work that has been done up to date. The new range is located just beyond the lower parking lot and could be in operation by late summer of 1994

10 Years Ago — November 26, 2008

New Fort Kent Landmark Unveiled — For months now, people have been driving past the sheets of plastic covering the northeast wall of the NMMC Wellness Center Building on Main Street in Fort Kent wondering what about the mural being painted beneath. Sunday, Nov. 16 at 1 p.m. curious crowds ventured out in pouring rain to view the unveiling of the work of art that displayed great things about Fort Kent.
