Pickup rear-ends trailer in Fort Kent
FORT KENT, Maine — A passenger received minor injuries when a pickup rammed into the back of a trailer which another pickup truck was pulling on Route 161 Tuesday, Oct. 23, in Fort Kent.
Sgt. Dalen Boucher of the Fort Kent Police Department responded to the accident, which occurred at 11:20 a.m.
Edgar Pelletier, 46, of Fort Kent was operating a 2017 Ford pickup pulling a utility trailer, traveling westbound on Route 161, when he stopped and prepared to turn onto Violette Settlement Road, according to Police Chief Tom Pelletier.
Wanda Pelletier, 62, of St. John, was operating a 2002 Dodge pickup, travelling directly behind Edgar Pelletier’s vehicle. Wanda Pelletier failed to stop and the Dodge struck the back of the trailer, Chief Pelletier said.
Joseph Jandreau, 73, of St. Francis, who owns the Dodge, was also a passenger in the vehicle when the accident occurred. Jandreau received minor injuries, including a bloody nose.
The Dodge sustained significant damage and Twins towed it from the scene. The trailer received minimal damage, according to Chief Pelletier.
Ambulance Service Inc. assisted at the scene.
Sgt. Boucher declined to issue any citations.
