Madawaska School Department garage sale to benefit students

MADAWASKA, Maine — The Madawaska School Department is having a garage sale 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 3, with proceeds going toward playground safety updates.

Among the items for sale by donation are desks, chairs, file cabinets, storage cabinets, and other office/classroom furniture. The sale is happening in the garage behind the high school.

“Some of the equipment, swings and seesaws especially, is over 40 years old. Some of this equipment was brought over from the old Evangeline school,” said Paul Chasse, director of school facilities, safety, operations and maintenance.

While Chasse said he doesn’t have a specific dollar amount needed to raise for the updated playground equipment, whatever is raised will help to offset what needs to be used from the school budget.

“No matter what, necessary repairs or replacements will be sought to ensure student safety,” he said.

All are welcome, he said, and any and all donations will be accepted.
