Thomas Daniel “Danny” Pelletier

ALLAGASH, Maine – Thomas Daniel “Danny” Pelletier, 74, of Allagash, Maine, passed away, Tuesday, September 11, 2018, after courageously battling a long illness. He was born August 26, 1944, to Hannah Hafford Pelletier and Thomas N. Pelletier in Allagash.
Danny was raised and went to school in the Allagash area graduating in 1962, from Allagash High School. After working in the area for several years, he was drafted in the Army during the Vietnam War and served from June of 1965 to June of 1967. He began his military training in New Jersey, and Georgia, was stationed in California, guarding nuclear sites and then serviced for 13 months in Thailand, as a military policeman.
He married Mable Jackson, and they had three children, Janelle Pelletier from New Milford, CT, Sheila Pelletier Thibodeau and her husband, Roderick Thibodeau, from Bangor, ME, and Corrinna Pelletier Thibodeau and her husband, Jimmy Thibodeau from Fort Kent, ME. Danny has three grandchildren, Kyle Connors of Fort Lauderdale, FL, Breanna Thibodeau of Dover-Foxcroft, ME, and Macey Thibodeau of Fort Kent, ME.
Danny is survived by one sister and one brother, Annie Pelletier McBrearity Paradis of Allagash and Henry Pelletier of St. John, ME. He is predeceased by his parents; two brothers, Clearance “Kay” and Milton; and one sister, Winnifred.
Danny began a 31 year career for Great Northern Paper Company in 1967. He maintained an array of jobs throughout his tenure there including scaler, foreman, and forester technician. After retiring, he worked part-time for North Maine Woods as the maintenance supervisor.
A patriot at heart, Danny generously served his community in several ways: selectman for the town of Allagash, 25 years, Allagash Fire Chief, 25 years, president of the Allagash Housing Corp., board member of Northern Maine Development, 3rd degree K of C member, life time member of VFW, American Legion member, president of the Allagash Snowmobile Club, state of Maine master guide.
He was a humble, hardworking, and kind man. His love, guidance, and unwavering generosity to his community and to his family, especially his grandchildren, will be greatly missed. He will continue to participate in our lives through the love he imprinted in our hearts.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Danny’s life. Friends called September 14, 2018, Friday, 6 to 8 p.m. and Saturday 9 to 10 a.m. at the Lajoie-Daigle Funeral Home, Fort Kent. A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated 11 a.m. Saturday, at the St. Paul’s Catholic Church, Allagash with full Military Honors. Committal services will be held at a later date.
