One Aroostook invites volunteers, donations

PRESQUE ISLE, Maine — The United Way of Aroostook and the Aroostook County Action Program’s One Aroostook: Investing in Community collaboration, which works to provide various needs throughout the community, is gearing up for colder weather.

According to a statement from One Aroostook, the group most recently helped to clothe more than 500 County youth for school, and also filled 200 backpacks with school supplies.

“It’s going to get cold soon, so there are needs for coats and hats and gloves,” organizers said. “It costs money to insure the technology that schools now use so that kids can bring home the devices they need to do their schoolwork. School pictures? Yearbooks? Sports gear? Instruments for band? Necessities to some, luxuries to others.”

One Aroostook invites the public to donate funds, volunteer or submit requests for aid.
