Experience wins the day in alumni soccer match at Fort Kent

FORT KENT, Maine — Experience won the day over youth and flexibility as Fort Kent Community High School and University of Maine at Fort Kent alumni battled it out on the soccer field against the current FKCHS varsity soccer team.

The alumni won the game, which is an annual event held as part of the Fort Kent International Muskie Derby and Ploye Festival.

Despite a few tumbles, the older players dominated the action with a 5-2 victory. Some technologically savvy youngster, however, did alter the digital scoreboard during the last few seconds of the game to make it appear the students won the game 5-4.

Among those who played for the alumni team were SAD 27 superintendent Ben Sirois, Pelletier Ford/Valley Motors owner Steve Pelletier, Valley Rivers Middle School boys soccer coach Taylor Martin, and Carl Bouley, the father of FKCHS goalie Ethan Bouley.
