91-year-old veteran receives award for 70 years of American Legion service
MADAWASKA, Maine — Officials with American Legion Post 145 of Frenchville recently presented an award to Robert Michaud recognizing his 70 years of service to the organization.
Michaud, 91, is a resident of Ridgewood Estates, a residential care facility in Madawaska.
The World War II veteran enlisted with the Marines at the age of 18 and, following basic training at Parris Island in South Carolina, was stationed in California until the end of his Marine career.
When he was discharged, he returned to the St. John Valley, where he married and had three children. Until his retirement, Michaud worked for the Daigle Oil Company.
