Residents, families enjoy picnic at Madawaska residential care facility

MADAWASKA, Maine — Ridgewood Estates hosted its annual family picnic on July 28 to thank the families of residents for all they do for the facility throughout the year.

About 300 people attended the picnic Saturday, during which the staff served BBQ chicken, lasagna, ribs, cabbage rolls, beans, hot dogs, ployes, salad, and cake, according to Paula Gendreau, the activity and event coordinator for the residential care facility.

During the lunch, The Old Strings, from Eagle Lake, and The Dynamics, from Fort Kent, played music for the residents and guests.

“It was a beautiful day for everyone,” Gendreau said. “Families came from all over to be part of this happy celebration with their loved ones.”

As part of the celebration, the facility held a door prize drawing. Nancy Corbin won a handmade blanket.
