Eagle Lake board hires interim town manage

EAGLE LAKE, Maine — The Eagle Lake board of selectmen voted at a regular meeting on Wednesday, July 25, to hire James Gagnon to serve as interim town manager.

Former Eagle Lake town manager Sandra Fournier, who began serving in the role in 2014, left the position on June 29. The Aroostook County Commissioners voted on June 5 to appoint Fournier as deputy county administrator of finance.

Through a special arrangement with the commissioners, Fournier continued to assist the town of Eagle Lake one day per week throughout the month of July.

Gagnon has a decade of experience serving as Wallagrass town manager, having retired from that position last year. Gagnon’s first day as Eagle Lake town manager was Monday, July 30.

He said he anticipates only filling in for a month or two, and said he agreed to accept the interim position “to help the town of Eagle Lake until they find someone full-time.”

“By the end of September they should know who they’re gonna hire,” he said.
