Officer battles wasp nest for elderly woman

MADAWASKA, Maine — Officer Ryan Albert of the Madawaska Police Department responded to a call from a woman in distress about a wasp nest outside her home Thursday morning.

When Officer Albert and Chief Dubois arrived, the elderly woman showed them where the nest was and informed them that she was severly allergic to those types of stings, according to the Madawaska PD.

The chief armed Albert with the necessary tools needed for the job and stepped back, after letting him know that if Albert was to get stung, Dubois was pretty sure it might be covered under their insurance plan.

“I wasn’t 100 percent sure it would cover him, but thought it was worth the chance,” Dubois said.

After spraying the nest, Albert said the woman was very thankful.

“It’s always nice to be able to help someone in need,” Albert said. “And this job gives me the opportunity to do that.”
